Abstract

The year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation rate in Sumatera Selatan, July 2024 was 1.87 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.11. The highest inflation was seen in Palembang City at 2.09 percent with a CPI of 105.82, while the lowest was seen in Muara Enim District at 1.04 percent with a CPI of 106.69.
⁠Inflation occurred as the prices went up, as indicated by the increase in all expenditure groups indices, namely: Food, Beverages, and Tobacco Group of 2.02 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, and Household Fuel Group of 2.17 percent; Health Group of 1.92 percent; Transport Group of 2.04 percent; Recreation, Sport, and Culture Group of 1.61 percent; Education Group of 2.86 percent; Food and Beverage Serving Services/Restaurant Group of 1.59 percent; and Personal Care and Other Services Group of 6.45 percent. Meanwhile Clothing and Footwear Group decreased by 1.40 percent; Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance Group’s index decreased by 0.86 percent and Information, Communication, and Financial Services Group’s index decreased by 0.28 percent.
The month-to-month (m-to-m) deflation rate in July 2024 was 0.29 percent and the year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation rate was 0.35 percent.
